Business services companies choosing to locate in North East England will benefit from a wide range of business support and cluster networks primed to offer guidance and advice across a range of topics.
Ocado, 'the world's largest dedicated online grocery retailer', signed a 15-year deal to let the top two floors of The Beam, in the heart of Sunderland's city centre. The Sunderland centre is an additional hub for the company, which has a similar set-up in Hatfield, and will support Ocado to continue to grow. Their decision to expand their operation into Sunderland is a huge display of confidence in the city. Senior representatives from the Hatfield-headquartered business visited a whole host of potential sites across the UK before narrowing down their search and choosing Sunderland, and The Beam.
"There were so many things that attracted us to open a facility in Sunderland, but more than anything, the skilled people we believed we could access greatly appealed. It's been fantastic to see all of our hopes being realised - the level of talent here has blown us away, and we're really looking forward to building on that as we get up to full capacity."
