Welcome to our Wear Sustainable Resources!

Immerse yourself in our collection of free, curriculum-linked learning materials designed to empower local children and young people to explore Sunderland's rich heritage and its journey towards sustainability.

Collaborating with Sunderland City Council and OASES, several schools across Sunderland have joined forces to craft these resources, available to all Sunderland schools via the Google Drive link below.

Our free resources include:

  • Engaging educational lessons tailored for each key stage (KS1-KS4), delving into the science of climate change, Sunderland's carbon journey, global and local responses to the crisis, and visions for a climate-friendly future.
  • Supporting materials such as PowerPoints, detailed lesson plans, activities, and worksheets for each lesson.
  • A complimentary school loan box filled with materials linked to lesson activities.
  • Two self-guided trail routes around the city center, unveiling local heritage and current and future Low Carbon initiatives, expanding on the lesson content.

Discover what schools have to say about their experience with our resources:

"Engaging and informative. All students thoroughly enjoyed learning about their city" - Feedback from Dame Dorothy Primary School.

"Our trail experience was enlightening. We gained valuable insights into Sunderland's history and future plans. I look forward to incorporating these resources into future lessons." - Feedback from St Patrick's Catholic Primary School.
