Roker and Seaburn Beaches
Sunderland's Blue Flag award winning beaches are ideal for traditional family seaside fun
Sunderland's twin beaches at Roker and Seaburn are the perfect place to unwind. Whether you're looking for somewhere to let the kids run off some excess energy or to sit and relax with a picnic; there's miles of beautiful coastline from which to choose the best spot.
Roker and Seaburn beaches have been favourite family spots for hundreds of years. The golden sands are a sandcastle builders paradise and with lifeguards on duty they're great for paddling. The wide open promenade and landscaped seafront make for a perfect stroll in the sea air too. If you really want to take in the air though, a stroll along the restored Roker Pier is perfect.
You're never far away from a refreshing drink... or ice cream. Pier Point at Roker is right on the edge of the beach with cafes and restaurants. Seaburn too has a choice of pleasant places to eat and drink.
Just a short walk from the coast is Roker Park. This fantastic traditional park, with play areas, a lake and a miniature railway alongside the floral displays you'd expect to find. It's ideal if you fancy a break from the sands.
The fun doesn't stop when summer ends though; with an array of independant bars and restaurants open all year round offering some of the best food and drink in the region, Roker and Seaburn are the perfect place to spend an evening following a refreshing afternoon walk along the stunning 'Roker Riviera'!
