Museum Vaults

Experience a warm Mackem welcome at the Vaults. A traditional pub which hasn't changed much over the years, serving ales and lagers. Very popular with the locals and for those looking for a friendly and fun night out!

Port of Call (night)

Port of Call is located in the heart of the city centre and offers three floors of hearty meat, stunning seafood and over 40 different rums. Using locally sourced beef and seafood and with its interior design playing homage to Sunderland's shipbuilding heritage, Port of Call is the place to go for a night out in Sunderland.

Sam's Bar

A new addition to the Sunniside bars, Sam's Bar is tucked away down the stairs of the beautiful old Maritime building. Large couches are in snugs on either side of the bar which sells a range of lagers, wines and spirits.

STACK Seaburn (night)

STACK Seaburn is a welcoming social hub, providing a safe environment to ensure all visitors can have an enjoyable experience.

The Borough

A friendly city centre pub that serves a varied array of beers, both on draught and in bottles. Look out for live music gigs, from regular and new local bands, some come with a small charge at the door. Check out their Facebook page for news and gigs.

The Church Door

The Church Door Spirits & Wine Bar recently opened in West Sunniside. It has been lovingly converted from what used to be the Backhouse & Co. Bank in 1870. Prior to it's conversion it had lain empty for many years.

The Cooper Rose (night)

Reasonably priced food and drink and a large dancefloor in the middle of the ground floor ensures that The Cooper Rose is one of the busiest late bars/clubs in Sunderland. A quieter bar area is located upstairs for those who want to catch up with friends or for those who want to watch those dancing on the dancefloor below. The DJ plays a mixture of dance and pop music creating a lively atmosphere.

The Engine Room at The Fire Station (night)

Positioned in Sunderland's Cultural quarter, The Engine Room at The Fire Station was recently converted from the city's former fire station. The bar and bistro serve a delicious selection of food and drinks in a quirky setting displaying much of the original paraphernalia from the original working station.

The Ivy House

Selling a range of cask ales and craft beers as well as unusual spirits. Popular with locals and students alike, this Victorian Ale House is a great place to catch up with friends on a chilled night out!

The Manor Bar

The Manor Bar brings an element of sophistication to Sunderland's Sunniside quarter. Serving a great selection of wines, cocktails and beers the former Manor house provides elegant surroundings and a warm atmosphere.

The Palm (night)

Varsity

Varsity is very popular with the student crowd as well as those on the pub route to clubbing at the Cooper Rose. Popular for its cheap prices and lively atmosphere.
