Sunniside is the historic core of Sunderland, and at the height of our shipbuilding powers, this was the business centre of the industry.

In more recent years a programme of urban development has established Sunniside as a centre of culture, film, dining, entertainment and art in the city. Sunniside Leisure Complex is home to a 12 screen cinema, casino, ten pin bowling and restaurants, and close to Sunniside multi-storey car park.
Sunniside Gardens is a lovely open space with seating, sculptures and water features, ideal to take a breather from a busy day in the city.
The area is home to bars and cafes including Angelos and Bar Justice.
