Put a spring in your step this Easter with our egg-stra special guide to events and activities taking place across Sunderland throughout the school holidays. 

From family fun Easter workshops and interactive trails, to glass fusing and ceramics at the National Glass Centre, there's something for all the family to get involved in this spring. 

Below we take a look at 14 events and activities you can look forward to with family and friends... 

1. Easter workshops  

Have a cracking good time learning circus skills, arts and crafts and playing games at a series of workshops put together by Sunderland BID and local businesses. 2. Ryhope Engines Museum  

After being closed for more than 900 days, Ryhope Engines Museum will reopen its doors from Good Friday to Easter Monday between 11am - 4pm for visitors. Explore the fantastic heritage site, built in 1868, which once supplied drinking water across Sunderland.

3. Dino Egg Hunt 

Do you have a dinosaur-obsessed little one? Take part in an egg hunt to help Tina the Triceratops find her 8 dino babies that are hiding around the Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens. Available until Friday 22 April, the trail is £2.50 per person and can be purchased at the Museum Shop.  
 

4. Interactive Easter Trail  

Eggsplore Sunderland city centre using the 'Sunderland Experience' app to find seven interactive AR characters and six giant eggs. Great for keeping the kids entertained, this Easter trail is available until Saturday 30 April. 5. Active Sunderland Easter Family Fun 

Enjoy an afternoon of family friendly activities in Herrington Country Park including family games, led walks, cycling and running challenges, and not forgetting the timeless Easter egg roll. Taking place on Thursday 14 April between 11am - 4pm, this event is free for all. 6. Bedknobs and Broomsticks  

Enter a world of magic as Disney's classic Bedknobs and Broomsticks makes its world premiere as a new musical and visits Sunderland Empire as part of its UK tour. 7. Spring Landscape Family Fusing  

Get creative and celebrate spring by fusing glass tiles, grains and stringers together to create a nature inspired landscape. 8. Foundation of Light Holiday Courses  

Throughout half term, the Foundation of Light have a whole host of activities and courses available, from football and coding to Little Dribblers playgroup and disability multi-sports. 9. Spring Ceramics  

Throw down some clay with ceramic artist Michael Emmott at the National Glass Centre to create your very own unique spring themed ceramics. 10. The Young'uns at The Auditorium  

Three-time winners of the prestigious BBC Folk Awards, Teesside's The Young'uns are now one of the most in demand groups on the UK Folk and Acoustic scene. Don't miss out on seeing this unique act who will capture your heart with their acapella singing and powerful songs. 11. Everyone Active Activity Camps  

From Tuesday 19 April - Friday 22 April, Silksworth Tennis Centre will be hosting activity camps for those ages between 8 -13. Daily activities include tennis, swimming, snow tubing and more. To find out more information and how to book, call 0191 5110611.  

 

12. STACK Seaburn  

Over the Easter break, STACK Seaburn will be hosting their popular 'Kids Corner' event on Wednesday 13 April between 12 noon - 2pm, with live music, fun activities and character meet and greets. There's also a number of performers taking to the stage throughout April, as well as Magician Marvin on Thursday 14 April, who will be performing magic tricks, juggling, balloon modelling and showing off his skills as a puppeteer. 13. Change4Life Challenges  

As well as going out and about during Easter, there's also plenty of fun to be had from the comfort of your own home. Change4Life Sunderland have put together 10 days of Easter activities including cooking, charades, exercises, mindfulness and more. 14. The UK's only LEGO® Brick Wetland Safari at Washington Wetland Centre 

Have a wild day out with a difference this Easter, as the UK's only LEGO® Brick Wetland Safari returns to Washington Wetland Centre. Explore and meet 16 giant colourful Lego brick animals, which form a fun and interactive trail around the wetlands.
