Active Sunderland Walking Programme Rainton meadows

The Active Sunderland Walking Programme is a FREE and friendly programme of weekly volunteer led walks, that take place right across the city.

Discover the perfect way to enjoy the outdoors, connect with others, and stay active.

Our group walks run for 60 to 90 minutes and are open to everyone—no matter your pace or experience. All you need is a pair of comfortable shoes, casual clothing, and a bottle of water.

You'll be warmly welcomed by our Walk Leaders, and our friendly walking community will help you feel right at home.

*Nordic Walking - Nordic Walking is a walking technique that uses specially designed Nordic Walking Poles to help work your upper body as well as your legs. Our Nordic Walk at Rainton Meadows lasts for 90 minutes and covers a variety of terrain including woodland, small hills, climbing of stiles etc, therefore not all of the route is accessible.

If you would like more information on any of our walks or would like to start your own walk, please contact active@sunderland.gov.uk

We also have a Facebook group where you can connect with other walkers and post photographs of your walks. Join today at Active Sunderland Walking Programme | Facebook
