We Love Cities

As a national finalist in the WWF One Planet City Challenge 2024, Sunderland was recently invited to participate in the 'We Love Cities' campaign for sustainability and climate action. 'We Love Cities' is a public engagement campaign that allows people across the world to express support for sustainable urban development by voting for your favourite finalist from WWF's One Planet City Challenge and posting improvement suggestions for the city.  

The main aims of the campaign are: 

• inspiring and raising awareness for the sustainability progress being made in cities;  
• giving the general public an opportunity to celebrate, vote and upgrade their city through making suggestions to decision makers; 
• rewarding communities and strengthening the bond between residents and decision makers.
