Our calendar highlights key dates and events across Sunderland where you can get involved, learn more, and contribute to making our community more sustainable.

Stay informed about the latest events and initiatives supporting our journey towards a low carbon future.

We offer support and help whether you are homeless or worried about becoming homeless. We'll give you advice based on your own circumstances.   There are lots of services to help you stay in your current home.  If that's not an option, we can help you to find a different home.  You can look at the advice on this page first and if you've any more questions, you can call 0800 2346084

Get involved in low carbon events

Events are held frequently across Sunderland where we engage with communities about how to be more sustainable and reduce their carbon footprint.

October 2025

EcoFest - 29th September- 1st October:

EcoFest is back for a third year, starting on 29th September at Houghton and Washington Libraries, leading into the main event on 4th October at the Sunderland's Museum and Winter Gardens, plus a sustainable shopping experience at the Pavillion in Keel Square.

It's more important than ever to look after the environment and reducing our carbon footprint is just one of the ways that we can do that. If you're keen to make sustainable choices but aren't sure where to start, why not drop by EcoFest and we'll help you on your way to greener living!

WWF - We Love Cities - 1st to 31st October

We Love Cities has reached over 200 million people globally since its inception in 2013. Over 150 cities have participated, with over 10 million citizen engagements and more than 100,000 citizen improvement suggestions shared to city officials.

The initiative is run by WWF — the world's leading nature conservation organization — passionate about building a future in which people live in harmony with nature.
