Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year is the festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional lunisolar Chinese calendar. Sunderland City Centre will be celebrating the occasion on 18 February this year in Sunniside Gardens.

There is lots planned for everyone to enjoy, including Dragon dances, creative workshops, dazzling performances, food, drink and much more!

There will be crafts and workshops including dragon masks, traditional origami, paper crackers, calligraphy, papercutting and more, as well as beautiful performances from dancers, costumed groups, and more to be added, as well as a selection of food and drinks to enjoy.

2024 is the Year of the Dragon, and Sunderland is celebrating in style!
