Time travel back into the past as you handle objects and explore stories about local places, events and heroes.

The recommended age is 4+.

Monday 22 July: Fantastic Fossils!

Join us to explore what lies beneath the surface... Find out about fossils and create your own fossil rubbings as you learn about the plants and animals of pre-historic Sunderland.

Monday 29 July: We do like to be Beside the Seaside

Drop in to explore our handling collections and learn about how people used to spend a day beside the seaside. Craft your own mosaic keepsake inspired by the coast to take home with you!

Monday 5 August: Toys of the Past

Come in and find out about how toys have changed throughout history! You might spot something your parents or grandparents used to play with when they were children. Decorate your own yo-yo and spinning top to take away with you to play with all summer.

Monday 12 August: Super ships

All aboard! Ships have been bringing items to and from Sunderland for almost 700 years. Come in to find out what life was like on board ships, and how they navigated through stormy seas. Design your own flag to wave and let people know about you.

Monday 19 August: We'll Never Go Out Of Style!

Calling all fashionistas and style gurus! It's time to express yourself, find out about past fashion and design an outfit for your own peg dolly to take home with you.
